Book Review

Miracle In the Andes is a great book written by Vince Rause through the words of Nando Parrado. It's about the Old Christians rugby team who was stranded in the Andes Mountains for 72 days on their way to a game against a Chilean club. Parrado actually lived through this story as a member of the team. I personally enjoyed this book because not only was it great but also I could connect to it as an athlete with a strong bond to my teammates; but also for the non-athletes a major draw is the reality behind it. The reality was big for me because I could picture the events in my mind because of the descriptive writing like any other book, but then realize that this actually happened; and I found this mind blowing. When a great story is combined with phenomenal writing it is a shoe-in to be great, and this story is truly amazing.

"Daniel and Liliana wanted to live as much as i did, they were just as strong and they fought just as hard to survive, but their fate was decided by a simple stroke of bad luck - they chose their spots to sleep that night, and that decision killed them."(134)
